Forward, profound, articulate, expressive, creative. Our talk is about when Gisela met her talents at Hunter College and how she blossomed. Presently, Gisela is one of Puerto Rico’s most recognized filmmakers and performers. She blends universal themes as in humanity first and particulars of Puerto Rico as in Jayá. An unveiling of sorts, a daring artistic proposal because it is absent of pretense, and that is elegant.

Her new work is “Perfume de Gardenias,” her first narrative feature, with a crux rooted in dark humor and inspired by caregivers. That’s how we met. She heard me on Radio Universidad talking about caregivers, and she found me. Caregivers go through a lot, and there’s a space of total exhaustion that she gets, and in that space, she found a place to play, and now she has a new story.

I’m honored by her time, openness, and noble demeanor.

Esta conversación termina siendo sobre Gisela cuando entra a Hunter College y ella descubre sus talentos y florece en todo el sentido de la palabra. Hoy por hoy Gisela es una de las mas reconocidas documentalistas y performeras de la isla. Gisela va con temas universales con valor humanista pero mirando lo particular de la isla como en Jayá. Es una propuesta sin velo y atrevida porque esta ausente de pretension, y eso es elegante.

Ahora esta con “Perfume de Gardenias” el primer largometraje narrativo con ancla de drama en humor del bajo reír, e inspirado en cuidadores. Por eso me conoció. Porque me escuchó en Radio Universidad hablando de cuidadores y me encontró. Los cuidadores sufren mucho, y existe un espacio de agotamiento total que ella entiende, y en ese espacio ella vió un camino para jugar y ahora tiene una historia.
